Jane Avril
Another popular figure in Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec’s work was the dancer Jane Avril.  She was adored by audiences when she first started at the Moulin Rouge, taking the place of La Goulue, even though her performances were much less risque than her predecessor.

Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec sketched and painted many popular dancers and singers of the cabarets and dance halls he frequented.  One of them being the outrageous dancer Louise Weber known as, La Goulue, or The Glutton. Isn’t her twisty-loopy-topknot so fun and ridiculous!?
